An In-Depth Study of Ezekiel 47 Eastward River, Part 1

We saw in our last post that the Lord has guided us in the past and if we forget the way He has worked in the past, we shall not know how He leads us today. Therefore to know the present guiding and the future as well — we must know our history.  Unfortunately, many “present truth” believers do not, nor wish to, STUDY our history. This lack of careful scrutiny, we will not do in our study.

First, let us address this question —

Has the Lord given probation time for the error-filled leadership to come in line with His truth? 

To answer this question, let us look at the King’s example Himself. We read the following lesson in 

“And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all;  for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.”(Luke 21:1-4)

Now, let us dwell deeply upon what has happened here. First, the Lord praises the act of the poor widow putting in her all, the two mites. Second, what was this church about and what was it doing during this time of praise from our King? Was it not in firm opposition to the Lord? Did it not even seek to destroy His message, and even Himself? Yes!

So what do we see here? We see here a striving, a long-suffering of the Lord towards his church! A probation! Even though the Jewish church, HIs church at that time, was error-filled and leading many astray, He still bore with them and gave them time to come into His truth. In fact even AFTER He was killed by them, there was some time given still! 

This is our first historical example and shows how our King dealt with His error-filled headquarters, His church. Notice He did not throw out the Jewish church as He proclaimed the truth, no, He gave them time. So too subsequent future headquarters shows this same probation transfer. It is just that we don’t look at the lessons as we should.

The Lord counsel explains the root cause of this neglect —

“If all Present Truth believers would clearly think the matter through, they would realize that as God has promised to take the reins in His Own hands, it is His duty to fulfill His promise. Then all their confusion and perplexity over some aspects of the work, which begets irrational questionings and criticizings, would consequently cease….Says the Spirit of Prophecy, “Close reasoners and logical thinkers are few. ” “How many men in this age of the world fail to go deep enough. They only skim the surface. They will not think closely enough to see difficulties and grapple with them, and will not examine every important subject which comes before them with thoughtful, prayerful study, and with sufficient caution and interest to see the real point at issue. They talk of matters which they have not fully and carefully weighed. ”—“Fundamentals of Christian Education,” p. 27; “Testimones for the Church,” Vol. 4, p. 361.

So our first point is clear. The Lord has given probation first, before transferring His church headquarters and His leaders.

Therefore, the first transfer, the Jewish church to the Apostolic church was official after a certain amount of probation time was given. We’ll now look at the transfer that occurred many centuries later, to the Seventh-day Adventist church. As this report won’t deal with all the details of the individual transfers, we’ll just give some highlights. Sister Ellen White and our SDA church, as present truth believers know, became God’s church starting in 1844. A small handful of brethren were called by the Lord to be His next movement and headquarters. This church continued to do His work all the way up to 1934.  The Lord’s publication, His official written news organ of  announcements to His people came by way of the Symbolic  codes —

“In The Interest Of The S.D.A. Denomination

It is certain that all concerned will be glad to know that the first of the series of news items relative to present truth is now being circulated herein. Therefore let us pray to the end that it will grow with mushroom speed; have the fabric of a palm tree; the grip of an octopus; clear as crystal, and glittering as transparent gold; moving “as the appearance of a flash of lightning” (Ezek. 1:14); sweet as honey (Ezek. 3:3) to those who are searching, for truth as for “hidden treasure” (Matt. 13:44), and as bitter as “wormwood” (Rev. 8:11) to those who seek to enjoy the pleasures of Egypt for a season.”(SC, vol. 1, no. 1, p.1)

And through  this news publication came the transfer announcement —

“The instruction in the SRod, Vol. 1, p. 251, regarding tithe, proves that we have payed our honest part all the way. It says that the tithe should be paid to the old S.D.A organization. But now since the leading part of the denomination has rejected the sealing message of the 144,000 and is passing on to the people a pseudo refutation of its subject matter to justify their actions, doing all they can to prevent the people from coming in contact with the message, the action of the SRod in calling not only for the tithe but also for the offerings to be brought in for the support of the message of present truth is Divinely approved and justified, for present truth has always constituted God’s “storehouse.” (SC, vol. 1, no.5, p.9)(1934)

It is noteworthy to mention from hindsight , that the last pleading to the SDA brethren occurred in the well-known General Conference study with the prophet. This occurred in the historical Conference called study over the Rod in Feb.1934. So it appears the Lord gave the leaders their final chance to accept the Rod and they did not. Far from it! They became even more determined to go against the Lord! (For details read Tract 7)

So the message of the Rod was given to the church, in promoting it to the leaders,  from 1929 to 1934, a time for probation of the SDA church to accept the Lord’s message before the Lord transferred His headquarters. 

But we must notice a key to this transfer –the eastward course.

“At this time we are to make the most important move since the message found us. Therefore, we earnestly solicit the prayers of every believer in Present Truth, so that there be nothing done which God can not bless…It has been evident for some time that it would soon be necessary to seek a more central location for the office in order to serve the whole field efficiently, so those at headquarters have been praying very earnestly over this matter for many months, and as they kept on praying for light, the Lord finally indicated definitely that beautiful Southern California was no longer to remain the center of His work for the “lost sheep of the house of Israel,” but an eastward course was to be seen in the stream from that “fountain” which is to swell into the great river of Ezekiel’s prophecy, and plans were soon formulated whereby a thorough search could be made in the territory indicated by the Lord where the future headquarters were to be found.” (1 SC, no. 10, p. 1, p.3)

So what do we see as the reason for this transfer, along with the unfaithfulness of the SDA brethren? Ezekiel 47 eastward course. Thus there can be no doubt that the Lord guided us present truth believers on an “eastward course” according to prophecy.

To recap —

1 — The Lord gives probation time for the error-filled leadership to come into line with His Truth.
2 — The Lord’s last message of Elijah starts out in an eastward course according to prophecy.

In Part Two, we’ll take up more of the Ezekiel 47 prophecy and what we need to know in regard to the Lord guiding us today. As Inspiration says “We have nothing to fear for the future except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us.”  (TM, p.31)

An In-Depth Study of Ezekiel 47 Eastward River

As present truth believers and those who keep abreast of the Lord’s work among us, it behooves us to pay close attention to the movements of late. Particularly within the last year.  The Lord guided us clearly through inspiration —

“In reviewing our past history, having traveled over every step of our advance to our present standing, I can say Praise God! As I can see what God has wrought, I am filled with astonishment, and with Christ as our leader. We have nothing to fear for the future except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us.” (TM, p.31)

Do we believe this? Or do we conveniently ignore, sidestep, or deny this? This is profound. Our King has NOT at anytime failed to guide His people. The study of our history can be more clearly understood when we carefully review what He has done in leading us in the form of His headquarters. This study will be deep. We do not for a moment want to tread lightly on this subject. Therefore we will begin next month our series on His leading us, past, present, and future. Stay tuned!

An in-depth look at the Enemy’s Counterfeit 144,000 Teaching, Part 3 of 3

In our last part 3 we will look at the final categories and then make the summary.

Specific clear weightful references —

“Notwithstanding the fact that “in the closing work” for the Seventh-day Adventist denomination, only 144,000 are to be sealed, according to Testimonies, Vol. 3, p. 266..” ( 3 Ans, p.26)

It is difficult to find a more weightful statement than this. Notice that it is the Rod who says that it is a –FACT. We are told to be close reasoners and logical thinkers. Can we honestly throw this statement out and deny that Inspiration is calling it a fact that ONLY 144,000 will be sealed from the SDA church? 

Many of the more weightful statements will be found in the “escape” references but for a clear example —

 “As God called out Israel from Egypt anciently, just so now, God is calling His church out from worldlings and worldliness, to be a separate, peculiar people to His honor and glory. This does not mean another movement, but it does mean that God is to deal with the entire body, and those who escape are Israel, the 144,000.” ( SRod, vol. 1, p.107)

Entire body? This is so clear and plain, that we would truly have to be spiritually blind to not see it. The ENTIRE church will have how many escape?

The 3 Charts —



One of our classic Charts. There is ONE STONE, not one stone with bits of tiny stones accompanying it. The Mountain as we know is the SDA denomination and one stone is cut out of it.

“Beyond question, therefore, the 144,000 guileless servants of God (Rev. 14:5), composing the government of God in its beginning, the stone which smites the image, and which subsequently becomes a great mountain that fills the whole earth, are instrumental in the eventual overthrow of all earthly governments. ” ( 2 TG, no. 46, p.31)

On the bottom right we see who comes from the Laodicean church –the first fruits, the 144,000.



At the completion of the first fruit harvest, the two wave loaves are the finished product– the 144,000.

An eyewitness —

As we have posted before, we were blessed to spend some time on numerous occasions with sister Bonnie Smith. When we asked about the teaching of the 144,000 and those with, she was firm, that the teaching that says there will be others sealed from the SDA church (those with) was NOT something brother Houteff taught. She said it came from MJ Bingham. we know, of course, that Don Adair was a student of Bingham before they had a falling out. He took this doctrine and it basically became an obsession with him. This is the primary reason Mt. Dale broke off from Salem.

Progression of time of the references —

Later references come with more light and in some cases that is true. For instance, we know in the early SRod statements that Rod says that the stone is Christ and supported the common understanding at that time (2 SR, p.161-162).

What can we know about the 144,000 doctrine in the progression of time?

Question: “Will those who are now accepting the S.D.A. faith during this sealing time be among the 144,000, or fall in the slaughter of Ezekiel 9?”

   Answer: All that are found members of the church at the fulfillment of Ezekiel Nine will either receive the seal and be of the 144,000, or else be left without and fall under the “slaughter weapons” of the “five men.” Only those who “sigh and cry for all the abominations” in the church will escape from the destruction. (1 SC, no. 11-12, p.9) (May-June 1935)

Two groups only — the 144,000  and those to perish. 

Question: “Will all but the 144,000 of the present S.D.A. denomination actually be slain in the separation?”

   Answer: All but those who do not receive the mark or seal, old or young, male or female, will fall under the slaughter weapons of the angels. (Ezek. 9:6.) Only those who sigh and cry for all the abominations in the midst thereof will receive the mark. (verse 4.) John saw 144,000 sealed (marked). If others from within the S.D.A. denomination besides the 144,000 should escape, it is not known to us. (1 SC, no.15,  p.9 ) (Sept. 1935)

A clear statement showing the Rod does not know of any others besides the 144,000 escaping the SDA church judgment. So we have two clear statements in 1935 in harmony which each other.

But one year later in the same Symbolic code literature, we find this —

“All that are found members of the church up to the fulfillment of Ezekiel Nine will either receive the seal and be a part of or with the 144,000, or else be left without the seal and fall under the “slaughter weapons” of the “five men.” ( 2 SC, no. 5-6, p.8) (May-June  1936)

So did the Rod do a 180-degree turn and now state that there will be more than 144,000 who escape the church judgment after giving the two prior SC refs??  No, it cannot be. How do we know?

Simply because if the 2 SC , no 5-6, p.8 statement above is now telling us MORE than the 144,000 will escape the Ezek. 9 judgment, then how would we harmonize the reference with the later date “escape” quotes? So many of them say ONLY 144,00 escape after the 1936 SC quote. You see we can’t be speaking out of both sides of our mouth–one number is correct, the others are additions to His word(punishable by Rev. 22:18-19).

We found 20 references ( you may find more) showing that 144,000 are the only number to escape from the judgment in the house of God, the first fruit harvest. Also note, and VERY important, is that NO OTHER NUMBER IS EVER GIVEN EXCEPT 144,000 escaping.

If we were to take some of those disputed references that the  “those with” crowd uses, as showing more than 144,000 sealed in the church at Ezek. 9, would they not have to escape as well? If so why doesn’t the Rod says things such as “an undisclosed number escapes”  or “144,000 escape and those with them”, etc.

At this point let us look at counsel —

“Moreover, whatever interpretation we may place on any statement in reference to any truth, must be in harmony with every other statement on the subject.” ( 3 SC, no. 1, p.11)

So far we have been able to harmonize ALL statements of the few references that the “Those with” crowd brings to the table. Now, we stand upon the counsel’s statement but do they? Can they be obedient to that counsel? No, they cannot, for they can never harmonize the overwhelming statements to the few, it can only work the other way around!

As we’d like to condense the length of this post, we will show the escape references without posting each and every quote as written out. You are encouraged to research them for your own study.

SUMMARY —

We have done the Lord’s counsel —

“The weight of evidence” is the only fair and final criterion worthy of a Christian who must ever make an investigation for himself concerning purported truth.” ( 1 Ans, p.77)

After thoroughly investigating the matter, here is the outcome. We found 59 references from all our literature that shows ONLY 144,000 marked from the SDA church at Ezek. 9. The disputed references were 7 and they were explained and harmonized with the other 54 because we took in context their true meaning.  3 Charts also confirm our true understanding of this issue. In closing, our arch enemy has foisted upon us his counterfeit but those who “study to show themselves approved…” we know it is indeed a counterfeit! 

 

NOTE; When we say “only” we mean either the Rod mentions “only 144,000” or states just 144,000 in the statement with no other number given–thus that would mean “only” as well.

“Those who are sealed (marked) and escape the ruin are the ones who constitute the number which prophecy declares to be the 144,000.”( SRod, vol. 1, p.30)

Let’s take a look at 4 Ans, p.34-35

IF HALF AND HALF THEN, WHAT ABOUT NOW?

Question No. 92:

“The Shepherd’s Rod,” Vol. 1, p. 30, makes the statement that the Seventh-day Adventist denomination numbered 300,000 at the time the book was written, this fact suggesting that about half, 144,000, are the five wise virgins and that the other half are the five foolish virgins. But how can this be so when today the Denomination numbers 500,000?

Answer:

Writing in 1930, the Rod was necessarily speaking in terms, not of the then unknown membership of today, but of the established membership at that time. And though the number then (300,000) did naturally suggest about an even division of members (two classes, good and bad–“wise virgins” and “foolish virgins”), yet as there are only 144,000 Israelites to be sealed, the number of the unsealed would have even then exceeded the number of the sealed.

In the final analysis, however, it is neither the Rod’s purpose nor its intent to say just how many wise and how many foolish there will be in this first-fruit harvest, for when the whole truth is made known, the figure of the “five wise virgins,” besides comprehending the 144,000 from the tribes of Israel, may be found to include a considerable number from the Gentile nations.

Two points to bring out here. First, inspiration is addressing the issue of how many (total number) will compose BOTH the wheat and the tares in the SDA church. It answers it does not know that number. Second, and here is where misapplications can occur, as we have learned there may be outsiders of the SDA church that will “go with” the 144,000 to the kingdom (see 4 Ans, p.35-36). It cannot give a precise number of those gathered in the first fruit harvest. Thus the Rod is in harmony and with the preponderance of references.

“No candid Bible student would build a theory upon an interpretation that would lead him to set aside all other scriptures on the subject. He will seek to make his final analysis in such a way as to be in perfect harmony with all of them, or else confess that he does not have the light on the subject.”  (3 Ans, p. 53)

So far we have harmonized all the references that the “those with” proponents like to use, with the preponderance of the evidence. Can we continue to do this? We shall see. Keep in mind, they have to do the same, can they harmonize the overwhelming quotes that show only 144,000 sealed from the church with the minority of references?

Let’s look at the three.

“Remember, too, that you are candidates for the first fruits, to be either one with or one of the 144,000, that you are to be without guile in your mouths (Rev. 14:5).”(1 TG, no.4, p.27)

Once again we learned who the “one with” is, in WHR p.46 and 4 Ans, p.35-36. But there is something else we’d like to point out. Inspiration is always far ahead of us, we know that. Who was brother Houteff speaking to during his ministry? You got it–the “those with”. Thus indeed, The Rod was saying it perfectly to those people at that time! But unfortunately the “those with” crowd want to take it (like all the others) out of context and into a different setting than what Inspiration tells us.  This is not to say that there is some today who may die from the SDA church yet become one of the “those with”.The message is past, present, and future!

“Here the same powers which scattered Judah and Israel are again seen, not as horns, but as carpenters; not to scatter God’s people, but to build for them, and to cast out the horns (powers) of the Gentiles — those who rule the land. Plainly, then, on one hand the nations which do not rule Palestine are to arise as “horns” against those who rule it, and on the other hand they are to rise as carpenters for the people of God. Thus will “the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” Lu. 21:24.

So, only those who survive the Judgment for the Living, in the house of God (1 Pet. 4:17), those whose names are not blotted out from the Book (Rev. 3:5) will comprise the church, among whom are to be 144,000 sons of Jacob (Rev. 7:3-8), and when Michael stands up then those whose names are left in the Book will be delivered from the “trouble such as never was” (Daniel 12:1). They are “the remnant,” the ones who escape alive from the Judgment for the Living in the House of God. Thus the antitypical temple is to be built (Ezekiel chapters 40-43) and the cities are to be spread abroad.” ( 1 TG, no. 11, p.11)

This one is another one of those we must take in context. Let’s carefully look at the context.

“Here the same powers which scattered Judah and Israel are again seen, not as horns, but as carpenters; not to scatter God’s people, but to build for them, and to cast out the horns (powers) of the Gentiles — those who rule the land.”

What time period is the Rod talking about? The KINGDOM period! Building up the final Loud Cry kingdom and thus the final church. This is the church that Inspiration is talking of.

” So, only those who survive the Judgment for the Living, in the house of God (1 Pet. 4:17), those whose names are not blotted out from the Book (Rev. 3:5) will comprise the church, among whom are to be 144,000 sons of Jacob (Rev. 7:3-8).” What church? The Kingdom church and not the SDA church as some may misinterpret.

We find that context often lies at the heart of the misinterpreted issue. It seems so basic, but surprisingly it is not uncommon to us present truth believers. The Spirit of Truth is a gift, not a right.

“This consolation, you note, is permanent. And since there are no sinners in It, it obviously, as shown elsewhere in our literature, is the result of the “Judgment in the house of God” (1 Pet. 4:17) — the Judgment for the Living, the purification of the church, the separation of the bad fish from the good (Matt. 13:47, 48), the cleansing of the sanctuary (Dan. 8:14) — the harvest of the firstfruits: the 144,000 that stand on Mount Zion with the Lamb (Rev. 14:1) — “the remnant.” Then follows the ingathering of the second fruits.

Your knowledge of these things, though, will not benefit you if you do not make a desperate effort to be one of, or one with the 144,000. You, moreover, must have this extra oil in your vessels (Matt. 25:1-12) now while it is so freely dispensed. To get it later will not profit you, for the late comers will find the door closed. Their knocking on the door will only cause them to hear the Master say, “Depart from Me,” “I never knew you.” (Matt. 7:23). Indeed, you must immediately avail yourselves of this light-giving oil now while It is brought to your doors if It is to do you any good.” ( 2 TG, no. 4, p.15)

Now why does Inspiration tell us “the harvest of the firstfruits: the 144,000 that stand on Mount Zion with the Lamb (Rev. 14:1) — “the remnant.” then say “make a desperate effort to be one of, or one with the 144,000.?

Notice what the first fruit harvest produces  –144,000. This is the number of firstfruits from the church we are told over and over again (the total). We will never find It say “part of the fruitfruits.” THE FIRSTFRUITS period. And as with the other refs, Inspiration must be in harmony with the preponderance of the evidence. So knowing this, “one with” is talking to those whom VTH was testifying to during the prophet’s lifetime, which there will be many  — WHR, p.46, or 4 Ans, p.35-36.

Summary of Part 2 —

On Part 2 we found another 17 statements that say the specific number (144,000) gets sealed from the SDA church. 4 statements that can be construed as more than 144,000. So far from all the Rod references, it is showing a preponderance of 34 references for 144,000 getting sealed from the SDA church and 6 that appear to say more. But as shown they are misinterpreted. 

Due to the length of our subject, we will have to make this a 3-part study. To be continued…

An indepth look at the Enemy’s Counterfeit 144,000 Teaching, Part 1 of 3

Indeed, inspiration’s words are being fulfilled today!

“The Enemy will try everything conceivable to confuse, becloud, and cover up the Truth, especially on the subject of the 144.000.” ( WHR, p.33)

As we have posted before, just like the day of worship (Sabbath/Sunday), the institution of marriage (man and woman/ gay union), the rainbow (God’s sign of remembrance of His covenant/ gay pride) Satan has found his perfect counterfeit hoisted upon the unsuspecting — to confuse, becloud and cover up God’s truth of the 144,000 doctrine!

What is that? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know the answer. It is —  There is MORE than 144,000 sealed from the church at Ezek. 9.

In other words the MJ Bingham/ Don Adair teaching of “those with”. Sure some DSDA will claim they believe this “those with” teaching upon their own personal study but the truth is all those handy ref’s brought out that they use were used by the above-mentioned duo in promoting this doctrine originally. They misinterpreted them. 

The Bible says —

“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” ( 2 Tim 2:15)

The Rod says — 

The only ones that will endure to the end will be those who carefully watch their steps from being carried away either by his additions to, or by his subtractions from, the works of Inspiration. ( 2 TG, no. 46, p.43-44)

In this 2 part report, we will study all relevant angles to once again “rightly divide the word of truth.”

Some may ask —  Why the need to delve into this subject so much, it really isn’t so important?

“Its dominant doctrinal concern being the truth of the 144,000, and a correct of it being a life and death matter to all, the Rod unfolds it from different angles.” (SRod Tract, p.5)

 ..it is more ignorant of who and what are the 144,000 than it is perhaps of any other known Bible truth.  And what is still sadder, many of its teachers who are refusing to accept this “most startling revelation” (Testimonies to Ministers, p. 445), are now insisting that a knowledge of the subject is not essential to their soul’s salvation. (Tract 5, p,104)

So what we’d like to do is delve deeply once more into this issue as we have put together a more thorough preponderance of the evidence that no honest truth seeker should ignore.

Recently we had a Conference call study on our Pre11thHour Ministry Free Conference call line. Some of our dear brethren once again proposed that the 144,000 number is not the full number of those sealed at Ezek. 9 from the SDA church. The standard refs by the proponents were used. Frustratingly, we responded back. But it made us think that after the passage of time, and even more understandings have come to light, it would be good to do another report.

“The weight of evidence” is the only fair and final criterion worthy of a Christian who must ever make an investigation for himself concerning purported truth.” ( 1 Ans, p.77)

We  shall try to answer the following questions with the weight of evidence–

1) How many references point to only 144,000 being sealed?

2) How many point to more than 144,000 being sealed?

3) Are there more “weightful” references than others?

4) What proof do the Charts provide?

5) Is there an eyewitness as to where the “those with”  issue began?

6) Does the progress of time, and unrolling of the scroll, influence our understanding?

7) From an “escape” reference angle do we see any specific number given or a different number than 144,000?

After addressing these questions we shall give the “weight of evidence”answer summary.

1) How many references point to only 144,000 being sealed?

2) How many point to more than 144,000 being sealed?

ZERO

There is one quote that sometimes may be misinterpreted and we shall look at that —

“This experience of the Israelites [in departing from Egypt] was written for the instruction of those who should live in the last days.  Before the overflowing scourge shall come upon the dwellers of the earth, the Lord calls upon all who are Israelites indeed to prepare for that event.” Volume 6, page 195.  The twelve tribes of Israel after the flesh are but a type of Israel by the promise (the 144,000).  As there were Gentiles among Israel (the type), there would be Gentiles in Israel the true. (SRod, vol. 1, p.64)

When we rightly divide this statement, we see that Gentiles will go with the 144,000. However, that is upon “departing”. When is that? After Passover (Ezekiel 9). Sure, Gentiles will indeed go with them just as in the type.

Let’s take a look at those two.

 “But if you make your decision for the better, then you will receive God’s mark (Ezek. 9; Testimonies To Ministers, p. 445) in your foreheads, be accounted faultless before His judgment throne, and be privileged either to come up in the resurrection of Daniel 12:2, or to stand aforehand with the Lamb on Mount Zion (Rev. 14:1), thence to carry God’s message to all nations and bring all your brethren for an offering to “the house of the Lord.” Isa. 66:19, 20.  You will become part of the first fruits, the nucleus, of the Kingdom Church, the token of the second fruits of the living, of those whom you subsequently bring in.

As present-truth adherents in the first-fruit period, may God help us all, Brother Sister, to be either among or along with the first fruits, the 144,000.  It is left to every one himself to determine his own destiny.” (WHR, p.46)

When we take this reference in context we see that first, the Rod makes clear two groups  – Those who are raised in Daniel 12:2 and those (144,000) who stand on Mt. Zion with the Lord. Thus we can see why it says “to be either among or along with the first fruits, the 144,000.”

To Gather a Class Defiled With Women, A Second Fruits. This class of saints must be those who have at one time been married to some unchristian mistress, a heathen church, and who consequently are not descendants of either Jacob or the Christian  church.  So there are to be two harvests — one from the church and one from the world: the record of the former, mentions only Israelites, the 144,000, those not defiled with women, though it does not say that there may not be others; while the record of the latter, however, definitely embraces a “great multitude” from all nations which must necessarily be both of undefiled and defiled ones — Jews and Gentiles.(Tract 9, p.56)

Again we must look at the context closely. First, we notice the heading — “To Gather a Class Defiled With Women, A Second Fruits.” 

Two harvests — one from the church and one from the world, although the church produces those not defiled with women, the first harvest “may” contain others from outside that may not be defiled with women. Let us give an example of this outsider who may not be defiled —

“Question No. 93:

Although I am not a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, yet since I have the light on Ezekiel 9 and on the truth of the 144,000, will I fall in the slaughter of the wicked if I do not fully accept and live up to the light? And, conversely, will I be subject to the enjoyment of the privileges of the 144,000 and be one of them if I obey all the light of this message?

Answerer Book 4, page 35

Answer:

Even though you are not a member of the church, still you will be held accountable for the light which you have on the subject, for no one finds the truth accidentally, or sees it without the Holy Spirit’s aid.

By the same law of accountability or sacred responsibility, even though you may have come into the message only recently you can be eligible for the election of the 144,000 if you live up to the message that is to purify and seal them. Whether or not for a certainty, however, you will be one of them, we do not know, but if you are faithful to the message, you will at least be one with them.”

So we see that Tract 9, p. 56 is not talking of from within the SDA church but from without. All it takes is to study the Rod carefully and we can deduct the meaning of some of the more difficult passages (Lord willing). In other words, the “Spirit of Truth” will have His way with us.

Summary of part 1 —

We see that there are 17 references from the SRod volumes and Tracts that show only 144,000 get sealed  from the church at Ezek.9. There are  2 references that appear to say more than 144,000. However as explained we have shown that those two can be harmonized with the 17 by interpreting them as we should. Contrarily, the “those with” crowd CAN NOT in any way shape, or form harmonize the 17 ref’s with the 2, to show those with as alive from the SDA church at Ezek.9.

Remembering Sister Bonnie

As many have learned by now, we lost our beloved sister Bonnie Smith. She fell ill a couple weeks ago with a stroke, which left her unable to speak or swallow. As a consequence of that serious issue and advanced age, she was unable to continue. She was 93 if we recall and now she rests in the hands of the Lord.

But we as fellow believers have the faith of Bible prophecy and look forward to the following —

“And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.” (Daniel 12:2)

We were fortunate to get to know our dear sister over the last 10 years. We’d like to relate some of our memories.

In our many phone conversations, we remember we’d talk of some important issues of our history, the message and brother Houteff. 

After one of our conversations we received in the mail her own personal Blue Book, complete with her notes placed throughout it. She was an avid student of the message as evidenced by those notes. Although we did not solicit her, apparently after we made reference to the fact we haven’t a Blue Book, she took it upon herself to send us one!  Hers!

One of our conversations we discussed the “those with” doctrine. She was direct in saying “Oh that began with brother Bingham. Brother Houteff never taught that.” This confirmed our research that indeed the message DOES NOT support such heresy teaching. We even added her testimony to our in-depth 7-part study on the 144,000 here on this blog.

She also told of the time of the “Kitchen fire” where brother Houteff knew there was only one hope to preserve the kitchen and that was prayer. She relates —

“The Lord preserved this shack by a miracle one early morning.  Some dish towels that had been left hanging over the stove the night before to dry caught fire when the wood stove was started for the cook to prepare breakfast.   

The roof had been repaired many times with tar so it quickly became one big blaze. (The camp had just bought a 6 door refrigerator and a Holbert bread mixer, they had saved for years to be able to buy these.)  A bucket brigade was begun but it was quickly realized that there was nothing that man could do to stop the fire from burning.  So Brother Houteff said, “Let us kneel down on these rocks and ask God to save our kitchen.”  When we open our eye after the prayer the fire was out, there was nothing left but smoke.  That was just one of our miracles.”

We also remember her comments on Don Adair. She told of a time brother Houteff was sitting in on one of Adair’s presentations, and after he was done said to Adair “where did you get that from??” He was incredulous as to what Adair was promoting! As we know, Adair went on to do even more strange fire teachings.

We also remember the time we had a Free Conference Call meeting with her as the guest speaker.  She gave her testimony of her experiences on the camp. Many were blessed and the meeting was very well attended.  The brethren asked her many questions as well.

In closing, the word says —

“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Matt. 24:13)

From all we can gather from our experience knowing our beloved sister, she did indeed “endure to the end” –Amen!

The Lord’s Trophies and the Kindred Events (Part 2)

In part 1 we looked at the testimonies the saints gave that Christ was indeed the Son of God. In this part 2 we shall look at the day Christ arose with the saints and what happened.

As we know Mary was the first to see Him at His resurrection. We read —

“Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.” (John 20:17)

At this point, our King had not yet gone up. The Rod explains who else went up as well —

“..as those who arose with Christ ascended with Him as trophies of His victory over death and the grave, they thereby became a living type, and thus The Wave-Sheaf Of The Living.”(Tract 3, p.78-79)

So we see that these saints went up with Christ on the same day that our King rose from the grave. And the purpose was to, along with Christ, be the wave sheaf of the dead to be raised. 

“So Christ, the first fruits, and those who with Him at His resurrection came forth from the grave, raised to everlasting life, were the antitypical wave-sheaf of the dead.” (Tract 3, p.78)

 “He was the antitype of the wave-sheaf,” declares the Spirit of Prophecy, “and His resurrection took place on the very day when the wave-sheaf was to be presented before the Lord.” — Desire of Ages, p. 785 . (Tract 3, p.78)

“All heaven was waiting to welcome the Saviour to the celestial courts. As He ascended, He led the way, and the multitude of captives set free at His resurrection followed. The heavenly host, with shouts and acclamations of praise and celestial song, attended the joyous train….” ( Desire of Ages, p.832)

Now we see that the “morrow after the Sabbath” (Lev. 23:11) the wave sheaf was to be offered before the Lord. Thus Christ and His trophies fulfilled the type in anti-type.  The sheaf waved for the dead and then later (1844) for the living. 

“… the ceremonial sheaf of barley prefigured the resurrection of Christ, the first fruits, including those who arose with Him. These resurrected ones constituted the spiritual sheaf which, at the beginning of the judgment of 1844, was offered before the Father as a sheaf offering of the living firstfruits.” (3 SC, no.5-6, p.13)

In this chart, we see that 18th was the day of the wave sheaf offering and we also see the wave loaf offering (50 days later) corresponds to the Pentecostal power given to the 120 disciples. Thus we have Christ and the saints being presented on the resurrection day as the wave sheaf and the 120 disciples presented 50 days later as the wave loaves. 

“Just as Christ arose on the very day the sheaf was to be offered, likewise the Holy Spirit fell upon the 120 disciples on the very day the wave-loaves were to be presented before the Lord. The apostolic Pentecost was accordingly the prototype of the ceremonial Pentecost (the day the wave-loaves were offered). And since the wave-sheaf was a figure of Christ and of those who arose with Him as the first of the first fruits of the dead, hence the wave-loaves were a figure on the 120 Spirit-filled disciples who were the full complement of first fruits of the dead, and who were gathered in after the resurrection.” (Tract 3, p.79)

“The reader will remember that those who arose with Christ on the eighteenth day of the first month (follow the chart of page 55), were immortalized and received into heaven as the antitypical sheaf, pointing to the ingathering of the fruits that shall never die. Their resurrection from the dead signified the beginning of the first-fruit harvest of the 120 disciples who were to die and be resurrected. “(Tract 3, p.84)

Now, our next question is — did the saints stay up in heaven or did they come back down with Christ and give testimony for the 40 days along with Him?  We find our answer!

“After His resurrection, Christ did not show Himself to any save His followers; but testimony in regard to His resurrection was not wanting. Those who were raised with Christ “appeared unto many” (Matthew 27:53), declaring, Christ has risen from the dead, and we are risen with Him. They bore testimony in the city to the fulfillment of the scripture, “Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead” (Isaiah 26:19). These saints contradicted the lie which the Roman guard had been hired to circulate—that the disciples had come by night and stolen Him away. This testimony could not be silenced. Christ was the first fruits of them that slept.” (SLM, p.305)

Ah, did we catch this? Notice that the Pharisees put together a plan to circulate that the body was stolen. This plan was not put out on the same day as the resurrection. Rather it was put into effect days after (once they discussed it and hatched it)  and we see that the saints were alive to do what? Give contradiction to the lie being spread! They could not do it until the lie was being circulated. Therefore they were on earth as a witness the many days after when the lie was being circulated! This is our convincing evidence that they came back with Christ. Both Christ and the saints lived on earth for the 40 days. 

Additionally, the reference shows that despite Christ not showing Himself to any but the followers, the saints appeared to many. When did Christ show Himself to His followers? After coming back down from heaven. Thus we see that the saints were sent out to  non-followers as well, so that “testimony in regard to His resurrection was not wanting.“In other words, Christ and the saints covered all bases as to witnessing!

Further proof that the saints were on the earth the 40 days  and did not stay up in heaven after resurrection —

“The Ascension of Christ The work of the Saviour on earth was finished. The time had come for Him to return to His heavenly home. “And he led them [the disciples] out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven” (Luke 24:50, 51). As Christ ascends while in the act of blessing His disciples, an army of angels encircle Him as a cloud. Christ takes with Him the multitude of captives.He will Himself bring to the Father the first fruits of them that slept, as an evidence that He is conqueror of death and the grave. At the portals of the city of God, an innumerable company of angels await His coming….” (SLM, p.307)

In regards to the Wave  Loaves, we see that although the saints raised were the Wave Sheaf, the 120 disciples were the Wave Loaves —

“The 120 who received the power of the Spirit on the very day the wave-loaves were offered, were therefore the antitypical wave-loaves, signifying the completeness of the first-fruit harvest. Subsequently came the second fruits of the dead, in the period of which the tares were commingled with the wheat.” (Tract 3, p.84)

As with any study we are to harmonize God’s word, bringing all references to the table and then we can put the pieces together. This is what we have done here and we praise the Lord for this beautiful picture of the work of the  Lord’s trophies. We must not think we can “cut out” or “eliminate” God’s word as spoken through the prophets. No, harmonization should be made at all costs as the Rod says. The Bible, SOP and the Rod perfectly harmonize. What we have done here is stand upon all the references made and show the results. We have “proved God’s word correct” (1 TG, no. 13, p.7).

“We would never try to establish an idea on the basis of agreeing with one passage of Scripture while disagreeing with another, for such a conclusion is as sure to be erroneous as if one should conclude that when the sun sets in the evening, it will never arise in the morning.” ( 2 SC, no. 1, p.5)

SUMMARY —

The saints were raised with Christ as trophies and the complement of the wave sheaf offering with Christ. They were presented before the Father on the day He was resurrected. They then came back down with Him and provided living testimony to many in the city, for 40 days. Unlike Christ, they were not limited to providing testimony to the followers only.  Then when Christ ascended into heaven He took them up with Him. In 1844 they were also presented before the Father as the wave sheaf of the living , the 144,000. We are not told the exact time of that year in 1844 this presenting took place. If one keeps to the timing of the typical ceremonial harvest rites, we could say in April of 1844. But all we are told was that they were presented “at the beginning of judgment in 1844”. This sums up the saints (trophies) and their work,  to God be Praised!

The Lord’s Trophies and the Kindred Events (Part 1)

 

In Matthew 27:51-53, we read —

^“And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,  and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.”

Thus we see that our Lord’s victory over our great arch-enemy of souls had been successful! And with this victory, He brought forth saints from their graves. 

We shall go over this study closely, looking at all the particulars that we can glean from the spectacular event. First, we must discuss the time of the saints arising. Later we shall show that inspiration called them “trophies”. 

Notice that in a quick surface reading, we can possibly misapply the timing of the raising. Specifically “and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,  and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised..”

We know from this that the earthquake caused the grave rocks to split (not to discount that other separate rocks may have split as well). Below is a picture of the ancient practice of a gravestone placed in front of the dead person’s grave. 



So we could mistakenly think that at the great earthquake, the dead were raised, however, the next sentence does not reconcile that fact, “and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.”

Although the gravestone rocks were split, opening the graves, they remained asleep until Jesus arose. This is the first noteworthy clarification to be made.

          Along with the darkened sky, the temple curtain being torn in two, and the great earthquake, this opening of the graves was obviously one of the signs that something dramatic had happened. So just what happened AFTER Jesus arose? Let’s look at that.

We know from Matthew 27 quoted above that many other souls arose along with Jesus. We shall now look at the inspired references from SOP and the Rod. Our goal is to get harmonization on the events of the saints that rose (what did do, where did they go, and what purpose did they serve?). The issue of waving the wave sheaf will also be addressed.

We’ll begin with the Spirit of prophecy.

“When Jesus, as He hung upon the cross, cried out, “It is finished,” the rocks rent, the earth shook, and some of the graves were opened. When He arose a victor over death and the grave, while the earth was reeling and the glory of heaven shone around the sacred spot, many of the righteous dead, obedient to His call, came forth as witnesses that He had risen. Those favored, risen saints came forth glorified. They were chosen and holy ones of every age, from creation down even to the days of Christ. Thus while the Jewish leaders were seeking to conceal the fact of Christ’s resurrection, God chose to bring up a company from their graves to testify that Jesus had risen, and to declare His glory.” (EW, p.184)

And what did these resurrected saints do upon being risen?

“Those who came forth after the resurrection of Jesus appeared to many, telling them that the sacrifice for man was completed, that Jesus, whom the Jews crucified, had risen from the dead; and in proof of their words they declared, “We be risen with Him.” They bore testimony that it was by His mighty power that they had been called forth from their graves.” (EW, p.184)

“After His resurrection, Christ did not show Himself to any save His followers; but testimony in regard to His resurrection was not wanting. Those who were raised with Christ “appeared unto many” (Matthew 27:53), declaring, Christ has risen from the dead, and we are risen with Him. To conclude part 1, we see that Christ’s risen saints had a testimony to give and showed themselves as living witnesses of Christ’s divinity and power. They could not be silenced in the city.

The Anti-Typical Zerubbabel

 

The study of Zerubbabel and the anti-type is a very interesting study. Because the message tells us there will be usurpers in our midst in the last days, we find the study of this subject helpful in knowing the final messenger sent to our Seventh-day Adventist Church and how to identify the rank imposters claiming, either directly or indirectly, to be God’s final messenger to His church.

“The fact that Inspiration takes the pains to tell who is to finish the work in itself is proof that there must be active usurpers of his office as there were of Moses’ office. “(1 TG, no. 14, p.22)

Let us first look at the type.

Hag. 2:1-3 — “In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the Word of the Lord by the prophet Haggai, saying, Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying, Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?”

As it was in the days of building the typical temple so it must be in the days of building the antitypical, in our days. From the type is seen that just as the Word of the Lord was then addressed to the governors, to the high priest, and to the common people, so the Word of the Lord today is to be carried to all the people, regardless of rank or station in life.

The Word of the Lord to all the people in Haggai’s and Zechariah’s day was that the builders should consider to their heart-breaking disappointment that the glory of the temple which they were building was in their eyes as nothing in comparison with the glory of Solomon’s temple.

Hag. 2:4, 5 — “Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts: according to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so My Spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.”

The Lord assured His people that the love which He has had for them has not diminished, and that His power to deliver and to help was still the same as when He brought their forefathers out of Egypt; as He had not failed His people in those times then He was not to fail them either, and that His spirit was still to be with them.

Hag. 2:6-8 — “For thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; and I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts. The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, saith the Lord of hosts.” (1 TG, no. 13, p.3-4)

We note that there is to be another temple built, let’s look at this instruction.

“That the prophecy in these verses is yet to be fulfilled, is very obvious, for in the day this temple is built God is to shake the heavens, the earth, and the nations; that their expectation is then to come and that the temple is to be filled with glory; that the builders are not to worry about finances.” (1 TG, no.13, p.4)

Zech. 4:10 — “For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.”

“The day this scripture is fulfilled, is the day in which the Lord of hosts starts a reformatory work in an apparently very small and insignificant way, and those who despise small and insignificant beginnings will at last rejoice and shall see that antitypical Zerubbabel is the one to direct the work along with all (seven) his helpers. They are the eyes of the Lord. What a momentous day! What a great people! Evidently they constitute the “stone” of Zechariah Three which we studied several weeks ago, and learned that it has seven eyes, complete spiritual vision. Obviously this is the stone that smites the great image of Dan. 2:45.” ( 1 TG, no.14, p.21)

So we see that “antitypical Zerubbabel” is not only to help build the end-time temple, but he is to help direct the work of the Gospel with his helpers. 

How does this study help in identifying rank imposters?

Zech. 4:8, 9 — “Moreover the Word of the Lord came unto me, saying, The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you.”

These scriptures positively imply that there are doubts in the minds of some as to whether antitypical Zerubbabel, or some other shall finish the work which Zerubbabel has started. Whom does Zerubbabel represent? —

The Word of God explains that ancient Zerubbabel is a signet, type, at the time God overthrows the thrones of the kingdoms, at the time their armies are destroyed by one “brother” Christian’s sword cutting down another brother Christian.” (Haggai 2:22, 23). (Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 14, page 20)

“Zerubbabel, therefore, represents God’s servant at a time the crowned kings, “throne of kingdoms,” are overthrown, and in which time one Christian nation is at war with another Christian nation. Since the crowned kingdoms are fast passing away, and other forms of governments are taking their places, all proves that antitypical Zerubbabel’s appearance is now due. And the Lord’s own answer is “the hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it.” (Timely Greetings, Vol. 1, No. 14, page 20-21)

“Zech. 4:11, 12 — “Then answered I, and said unto Him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof? And I answered again, and said unto Him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?”

All these taking place at this particular time, and the prophecies now unfolded, prove that antitypical Zerubbabel must now be here, and that as he has started the work, he also must finish it. The fact that Inspiration takes the pains to tell who is to finish the work in itself is proof that there must be active usurpers of his office as there were of Moses’ office. “( 1 Tg, no.14, p.21-22)

Adding up the Lord’s instructions, we see that antitypical Zerubbabel started the work and he must finish it. Inspiration tells us active usurpers are on the scene. Thus rank imposters will tell us that Brother Houteff did not start the work and he will not finish it. They imply someone else will fulfill the role of antitypical Zerubbabel. 

In closing,  Brother Houteff in the Sabbath study given on November 9, 1946, said the following Timely Greetings–

Adair’s Error Teachings Continue

The above is one of the many drawings that Don Adair did over the course of his Davidian career. He continued to promote his private ideas up until just recently. He has now been forced to retire due to some health issues. 

Recently we saw a video from his successor that reminded us of the sad situation that STILL exists with Salem today.  The Spirit of prophecy says —

“These strange ideas should not even be mentioned, much less taught as essential truths.  We have reached a time when things are to be called by their right name. As we did in the earlier days, we must arise, and, under the Spirit of God, rebuke the work of deception. Some of the sentiments now expressed are the alpha of some of the most fanatical ideas that could be presented.” (2 SLM, p.25)

As we have posted many times, Davidia  has many of it’s doctrinal errors stemming from 3 main sources –Florence Houteff, M. J. Bingham (now being continued with son Trevor) and Don Adair. Of course the enemy has to try hard to knock us off the Truth platform and sure has had his servants work overtime down through our Davidian history!
